Understanding Our Gr8 Differences
What common additives does gr8nola avoid?
We believe simple is better. We don’t add artificial or “sneaky” ingredients like mixed tocopherols (a preservative), “natural flavors” (which are flavor enhancers that often contain chemicals) or calcium carbonate (an anti-caking agent).
What are inflammatory oils and why does gr8nola avoid them?
Scientists believe that an excess in omega 6s can lead to increased inflammation. Vegetable oils like canola, corn, soybean, sunflower and safflower oils are excessively high in omega 6 fatty acids. These oils are also typically GMO.
Which refined sugars are commonly found in granolas, and what do you use instead?
Instead of refined sugars like cane and brown sugar that can be found in most granolas, we use unrefined sweeteners such as honey, organic coconut sugar and monk fruit. Our sweeteners are kept as close to their original state as possible and have higher nutritional values than refined sugars.
Why does gr8nola avoid soy ingredients?
Over 90% of soybean crops in the US are genetically modified to be herbicide resistant. Soy protein isolate is also highly processed and contains many unhealthy additives.
